Ryan Beland

Lead Technical Artist & Tools Developer

Ryan grew up surrounded by technology. He built his first PC at thirteen and began programming, 3D modeling, and learning Adobe tools in high school. He later studied Video Game Design and Development in college, laying the foundation for a multidisciplinary career in interactive media. A lifelong fan of The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, and Warhammer, Ryan blends creativity and logic in everything he builds. He now lives in Ontario with his wife, kids, and a pug named Sir Percival.

Ryan is a versatile developer with experience across the gaming, simulation, and AI industries. He has contributed to mobile simulation titles, developed perception tools for synthetic data pipelines, and architected end-to-end solutions in Unity and Unreal Engine. His specialties include 3D modeling, technical art, animation systems, simulation design, and full-stack development using C#, Python, and C++. In 2025, he founded The Armoured Pug, where he leads development on his own fantasy game while consulting on complex technical art and simulation projects.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys hiking, archery, and spending time in nature. He’s an avid reader and storyteller, often drawing inspiration from fantasy and science fiction. Whether building tools, writing lore, or sketching out game mechanics, he finds joy in both structure and imagination. Travel is also a passion—he has explored much of Canada and the U.S. and hopes to visit Ireland, Greenland, Italy, New Zealand, and Australia in the future.
